Description

Join 221A Fellow Yu Su at Pollyanna Library for an end-of-semester conversation and listening session. Yu Su will discuss her Fall 2017 project Pollyanna Sound Archive Prototype 01 and introduce the suite of commissioned sound works produced from material gathered in the semester’s two collaborative fieldwork sessions.

As part of the installation Collective Listening-research / Communal Cataloguing, Yu Su’s sound works will be projected into Pollyanna Library between December 9 – 16.

Pollyanna Sound Archive Prototype 01 is part of Notes on Permanent Education (N.O.P.E. 2017), a collective research program convened by 221A Librarian Vincent Tao. N.O.P.E. 2017 inaugurates the organization’s new fellowship model and its primary support, Pollyanna Library.

221A acknowledges that the area called Vancouver is within the unceded Indigenous territories belonging to the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and Tsleil-Watututh peoples. 221A recognizes that the colony of British Columbia was created through organized dispossession and colonial violence. 221A seeks to shift its organizational practices to work together with Indigenous people to end ongoing violence, disposession and displacement.
